What is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle hands-on energy balancing technique, which facilitates physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual healing.  Reiki is a wonderful relaxing method to add to your health regimen, and works well as part of an integrative wellness program.  This holistic approach is known to deal with energy blockages that affect your immune system, reduce stress, blood pressure, help with sleep and so much more.  Whether you have health concerns or know someone who does, there is no better time to empower yourself by learning Reiki or come for a relaxing and balancing Reiki session.

In 2004, Mónica Fernandes started making jewelry as a hobby.  It quickly turned into a small business and she started networking, while promoting her new venture.  Her work as a jewelry maker focuses on wire-wrapping techniques, using different wires and glass, semi-precious crystals, resins and wood.  A friend of hers (who later became her Reiki Master Teacher) suggested that she make more pieces with crystals, due to its healing properties.  Mónica was skeptical, and she decided she needed to do some research.  Exploring the vast world of crystals stimulated her thirst for knowledge and she concluded there was more to crystals than their beauty.  She started reading about crystal therapy and how physics and chemistry play a major role in this alternative medicine field.  It’s not just New Age thought, but modern scientific theories and their application.  

Because crystal therapy is a form of energy therapy, Mónica decided to study Reiki and became a Reiki Master Teacher in the Shamballa Multi-Dimensional Healing System, a lineage of Shamballa, Angeltouche, Rainbow, Karuna and Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki. 
She also has the intermediate level of Integrated Energy Therapy®. 
Mónica is also qualified to practice ESM -Environmental Stress Management - a form of muscle testing.

Learning Energy Medicine has had a tremendous positive impact on Mónica’s personal evolution and she eagerly wants others to be able to undergo a similar blossoming experience, and so she decided to make Reiki classes available with Evolution Reiki.   Her journey continues and as an Evolution Maker, she empowers others to be masters of their own evolution too.  In the Fall of 2010, Evolution Reiki moved to Destination Massage in Plainville, MA. 

Mónica has a Bachelor of Arts from Wheaton College and a Master of Arts in Integrated Marketing Communications from Emerson College.
